Lofi Gangs covers Vigneux-sur-Seine, a town of the Essonne department (91) in the Île-de-France region, south-east of Paris. It publishes on Facebook, Instagram and Threads under the handle @lofi_gangs.
It is a hyperlocal outlet, in the strict sense: the beat is one town. Not the department, not the region. What happens on the street where the reader lives.
The beatWhat gets covered
- Town hall and public services — municipal decisions, road works, water, waste, school-year logistics, anything with a deadline the reader needs to know about.
- Transport — RER D, bus lines, closures and disruptions.
- Safety and weather alerts — heat and fire warnings, incidents, prefectural notices.
- Sport and local life — neighbourhood tournaments, associations, cultural events.
- Local history — the sand quarries, the lakes, what the town used to be.
The approachHow it is written
The register is direct and factual, in the language people actually use in the town. No editorialising, no moralising, no manufactured outrage. A story about a fire says what burned, when, and what the fire service said.
Three tones are used depending on the subject, and each has its own visual treatment:

StandardsVerification and corrections
- A subject is not published on the strength of a single social media post. Institutional sources are checked against the institution.
- Private individuals are not identified without a reason that serves the reader.
- Every post is read and approved by a person before it goes out. Nothing publishes itself.
- Corrections are published as posts of their own. A live post is not quietly edited to hide a mistake.
- If a subject turns out to be wrong after publication, the post comes down and the correction goes up.
The toolWhy the Lofi Gangs app exists
A one-town outlet has the same output problem as a large newsroom and none of the staff. The same story has to become a Facebook post, an Instagram post or carousel and a Threads post — each in the right format, on the same day, with a consistent visual identity.
The Lofi Gangs app is the answer to that: prepare the story once, review it once, publish it to the outlet's own accounts. It is used only by authorised members of this desk, and it publishes only to accounts the outlet owns.
